Elite Racing Formula is the perfect supplement for horses in race training.

Equine Vit&Min Elite Racing Formula is the Diet Perfecta! It is a scientifically formulated supplement to balance vitamin, mineral, omega-3 and amino acid deficiencies in the diet of horses in race training. Includes organic and inorganic sources of zinc, copper, and selenium and a generous serve of biotin for strong hooves. Give your horses have everything they need to race, perform and recover.

When would a horse need EVM Elite Racing Formula?

Equine Vit&Min’s leading nutritional supplements are scientifically formulated to top up horse diets with the vitamins and minerals often missing from the feed. If your horses are racing and training on a diet of plain grains, or on a combination of pre-mixed race feeds and some plain grains, EVM Elite Racing Formula should be used to achieve dietary balance.

Why does omega balance matter?

Race horses are often fed more hay, concentrates and oils and have access to less grass than leisure horses. Hay, chaff and grains contain significantly less vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids than grass because these are fragile molecules that do not survive for long outside a living plant.

EVM Elite Racing Formula takes diet balancing a step further by including EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids to balance the high omega-6 levels in diets containing large hard feeds and more hay or chaff than grass. It also adds a natural source Vitamin E to the diet.

How do probiotics help?

Events such as racing, transport, intensive work, illness and sudden changes of feed can cause stress on the horse’s body with negative impacts on the digestive tract and beneficial gut flora. Probiotics help to nurture and re-establish healthy populations of beneficial gut microbes. These tiny organisms help the horse by turning indigestible fibre into a usable calorie source as well as producing vitamins for the horse to utilise.

Which vitamins are most important for horses in training?

Horses in training and racing can benefit from the vitamins included in EVM Elite Racing Formula.

Vitamin A is used for night vision, bone development and is vital for the mucus linings which are the body’s first point of defence against infection.

Horses need B group vitamins (thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and pantothenic acid) to utilise energy from the carbohydrates and fats in the diet. Biotin, important for hoof and hair health, is also part of the vitamin B family.

Vitamin D is used to protect bones and joints and maintain muscle function. It is produced by the body when oils in the skin are exposed to sunlight, so a supplement is advised when a horse is stabled full-time.

Vitamins C and E are important antioxidants which neutralise damaging free radicals in the body. High performance horses have an increased need for these vitamins because the stress of intense exercise creates more free radicals than encountered at lower work levels.

Why doesn’t EVM include salt or electrolytes?

The actual amount of salt required can vary from day to day as well – their requirements are higher during very hot weather or following periods of heavy sweating. High performance horses need to have their electrolytes balanced very finely, and their trainers prefer to manage the salt intake independently of the vitamin and mineral intake.

Why doesn’t EVM contain 50 – 60 different nutrients like some competitors?

NRC (2007) states that “further elements are, in principle accepted as essential constituents in a mammalian diet (e.g. boron, nickel and vanadium). Based on the current status of knowledge, their natural occurrence is sufficient to ensure the required very small amounts of these elements. The supplementation of these elements, including the rare earth elements, is not based on scientifically elaborated, valid data and has the potential to be dangerous to horses.”

How does Equine Vit&Min Elite Racing Formula aid recovery?

EVM Elite RF contains balanced ratios of the amino acids most likely to be limiting in the diets of race horses. During digestion dietary proteins are broken down into amino acids that enter the blood stream to be transported to cells where they are used for growth and repairs to maintain and develop the body. Most horse diets contain plenty of protein but if a horse lacks the rarest amino acids, other proteins cannot be utilised. Supplementation with the most limiting amino acids lysine, methionine and threonine allows racehorses (particularly those who are growing) to get better value from their dietary protein sources.

Leucine is a branched chain amino acid (BCAA) that is known as the key essential amino acid for muscle metabolism. Adequate dietary leucine assists with energy utilisation during performance and aids in post-race recovery.

EVM Elite RF adds key antioxidants to the diet which protect tissues from free-radical oxidant damage during the oxidative stress that occurs during strenuous training sessions and racing.
